Thanksgiving Nails: OPI & Apple Pie

Hello, and Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! I just wanted to stop by with a quick post today.

OPI & Apple Pie is often considered the ugliest nail polish in existence. It is a deep burnt orange tan color, so of course, I adore it! I was totally stumped about what to wear as my Thanksgiving manicure, but when my mom called this morning and said she wasn't sure she was going to make apple pie for the feast, I insisted that there "MUST BE APPLE PIE!" It just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without apple pie. So I thought this would be the perfect color to wear!

OPI & Apple Pie is from the 2001 World Collection, which means this polish is 10 years old! It is a black label polish (which I will show in the pictures below), so it is a non 3-free polish. Usually, I adore the formula of OPI black labels, but this one was not as nice as others I had experienced. It was a bit thick, which is fine, but it did not self-level AT ALL. This means that I had some very lumpy polish on my hand. It took a good 3 coats to smooth everything out. Not really a fan of the formula, but I'll keep it around as it is a unique color.

Unfortunately, my nails and cuticles are badly stained from yesterday's Kleancolor Metallic Pink manicure. An amazing polish, but that baby stains like nothing else I have ever experienced! My nails are a nice shade of pink, and my cuticles are ORANGE. I tried everything to remove the stains: acetone, buffing, whitening toothpaste, whitening nail soak - even a scalding hot shower didn't do the trick. So, you guys will have to bear with me today. I only have a few pictures so as to spare you from the orange/pink massacre.

So here's, OPI & Apple Pie, 3 coats, Seche Vite topcoat, in natural light. In real life, its a bit lighter and less orange, but these were the best I could do in a short time today. Enjoy!

And, a bonus pup for you! This is UZI, and I am extremely thankful for this little guy today. Plus, my manicure matches the color of his fur =)

See you all tomorrow! Happy Thanksgiving =)

Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings over Revlon Royal Cloak

Hi everyone! So sorry I've been delinquent on blog posting the last two days. I am back with two posts for you today! First up is Revlon Royal Cloak smothered in Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings.

I was stumped for a while on how I wanted to wear Lynderella's Cauldron Drippings. It is quite a unique glitter polish, with a base of orange hex, square and bar glitter with green, purple and gold glitters of different shapes. I tried it on its own, and it was pretty but I prefer layering the Lynnderella glitters so I am not using a ton of them at once. I kept seeing swatches of it over orange polishes, but since the majority of the glitter in it was orange it would get lost among the background. So when I tried it over Revlon Royal Cloak, I knew I had a winner! It stood out amongst the purple and the orange glitters were able to shine! Plus, it feels very Halloweenish to me.

Revlon Royal Cloak is from Revlon's limited edition Masquerade Collection fro Halloween. It is definitely my favorite polish in the collection. Royal Cloak is a dusty blue-leaning purple with flakies! I am a huge sucker for flakies, so I had to try Royal Cloak. The application was very good, and I just love how thin Revlon's brushes are because it allows me to do precise, thin coats of color. Two coats was good for complete coverage on this one!

Over Royal Cloak, I did one coat of Cauldron Drippings. Application was pretty standard for Lynnderella polishes - I had to be a little more careful than usual to get the glitter to disperse evenly, but other than that it was perfect.

So here she is! Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings over Revlon Royal Cloak:

These are all photos of my right hand, which is not my default swatching hand so please bear with me as my left hand photographing and polishing skills are not 100%. Plus, my right hand looks weirdly red and yellow today. Odd.

Anyways, here is two coats of Royal Cloak alone:

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for part two of today's post!!

Kleancolor Metallic Orange: Swatches and Review

Holy crap, you guys. This is probably the most amazing orange nail polish I have ever seen in my life. It is so wonderfully shiny and glowy, I can't even handle it. It's a perfect orange for Halloween season as well. This orange is part of the Kleancolor Metallic line, which has taken a spot in my top 5 collections of all time. All of the metallic polishes that I have tried in this line are outstanding, I can't wait to show you the rest of them. You will be amazed.

I have a lot of nail polish. Really, I do. More than you probably think I have. So it really takes a lot for me to be amazed when it comes to nail polish these days. Most of the collections that people are fawning over these days (coughOPIMuppetscough) fail to impress me even the slightest bit. The fact that Metallic Orange made me gasp when I was applying it, really says something about this polish. It's truly unique, amazing and a MUST HAVE for your collection. In fact, every Kleancolor Metallic I have tried is a winner. And again, for $1.75 a bottle, what have you got to lose?

The application on this polish was flawless. FLAWLESS I TELL YOU! I did two coats because I was photographing, but in real life this is definitely a one coat polish. These photos are no cleanup at all. No cleanup!! Thats how smoothly and evenly this stuff went on. The only gripe I have with this polish is that the dry time is very long. It definitely does not have normal dry time, even with a quick dry top coat like Seche Vite. I'd say it was dry to the touch in 5 minutes, and a good 20 minutes before it was dry enough for me to start using my hands again. And yes, that was with my quick dry top coat. But for how awesome this polish is, I really don't care how long the dry time is.

Lots of pics in lots of different lighting situations so you can get a good idea of what it really looks like:

This is my perfect, glowy autumn orange and it is perfect for Halloween!! Hope you enjoyed the 80 bajillion pics I took of Kleancolor Metallic Orange =) Have a fantastic day everyone!

Ecto Cooler Nails featuring Pure Ice Crackle in Shattered

Hello there! I have a bit of a weird manicure for you today. Every kid who grew up in the 80's and 90's loved Ghostbusters. It's just a fact of life. Ghostbusters and Halloween always seem to go together in my head, so I wanted to do a Ghostbusters inspired mani for you all this month. Since I'm crap at freehand nail art, I tried to think of something Ghostbusters related, and then I remembered Hi-C's Ecto Cooler!

Ecto Cooler was a staple in my lunchbox during my elementary school years. It was based on Slimer, the gluttonous green ghost sidekick of the Ghostbusters. The drink had a sweet citrus flavor but instead of the typical orange color, it was lime green. And it was damn good. It was discontinued in the late 90's, but us 80's and 90's kids remember this drink fondly.

So, I'm not much of a crackle fan and I think it has been way over done since it's release early this year. However, if you can't do crackle in October for Halloween, when else can you do it? For this manicure, I did a base of China Glaze Papaya Punch, a bright (almost neon) yellow-orange creme. Then, I slapped on Pure Ice's Shattered, a lime green crackle. Definitely not my favorite manicure, but it's super fun for Halloween and definitely reminiscent of Hi-C Ecto Cooler.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Finger Paints Cordur-Orange NOTD!

Hi guys! Just wanted to pop in with a quick NOTD for you today! Today is the first Cleveland Browns game of the regular season, so I wanted to do something that would match the brown and orange dress that I wore for the occasion.

I had SUCH a hard time photographing this bad boy. Cordur-Orange is a deep, reddish rusty orange. The pictures all showed up a bit more red than this color is in person. I was hoping for a Browns-ish orange, but this was definitely too far on the red side. All in all though, still a great color for fall and a great color to have in my stash.

All these photos were ONE COAT! As this was the first Finger Paints polish I have ever used, I was extremely impressed with the formula. How can you not love a rich, one coat creme? I used my normal base coat and quick-dry top coat, which I will be discussing in later entries.

Don't forget to click on the pics for close-ups =)

Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed this quick nail of the day! Off to finish up some Constitutional Law homework, and then the True Blood season finale later! Have a fantastic evening!
