Good morning my lovely readers!! Welcome to another edition of Retro Sunday Squared with Polished Claws Up! Today we decided to show you all some vintage Revlon polishes =) Revlon has done some pretty fantastic polishes in the past and are probably one of my favorite vintage polish brands.
I decided to show you gals two of my Revlon Color Illusion polishes for Retro Sunday this week. Color Illusion is a line that consists of duochrome, multichrome and shimmer polishes. I believe this line came out in 2002 and are pretty hard to come across these days. I had a hard time picking out which ones to swatch for you guys because the 7 or so that I own are all pretty awesome.
The one thing about these polishes is the formula absolutely SUCKS. Old Revlons are notorious for bubbling and long drying time, and both of these polishes had those issues. While I was swatching, I forgot to put a topcoat on my thumb and there was an insane amount of bubbles on that nail. Using Seche Vite helps with the bubbling, but it didn't eliminate it. Even with Seche Vite, they took a very, very long time to try. Overall, these polishes are essential for the vintage polish collector but I probably wouldn't recommend them to the casual polisher who just wants a fuss-free polish. But lets look at the pretties anyways, shall we?
~~~~
First up is Revlon Silver Switch. Silver switch is a multichrome polish that flashes purple, green and aqua. It is pretty sheer so I layered it over black for the swatches here. The colors in this polish are phenomenal! The color shifting in Silver Switch is quite strong and can be seen in any light. It reminds me a lot of Nubar Indigo Illusion, but more purple and less blue. I guess you could say it's kind of a cross between Indigo Illusion and the SH Emerald Amethyst that I had on here yesterday.
Here's 2 coats of Revlon Silver Switch over black. Enjoy - and please ignore the bubbles =)
~~~~
Next up is Revlon Plum Flip. Plum Flip is a magenta-y multichrome in the bottle, though the color shifting doesn't translate very well to the nail. I layered this one over black to try to bring the shift out but that didn't help much either. It was kind of a bummer, because it looked so pretty in the bottle. I was able to capture the shift a teensy but, but only at the most extreme angles. I swatched it without the black as well and even though the multichrome effect wasn't present, it was a really gorgeous color!
My pictures of this one just did not turn out too well since I was focused on trying to capture the shift rather than focusing on, well focusing my nails lol. Also, the bubbles were rampant in this one so try to ignore them again here in these pics =)
Here's 2 coats of Revlon Plum Flip over black, and then the last picture is 3 coats of Plum Flip on its own.

What do you guys think? Would you hunt these down despite the less-than-stellar formula? Do you own any vintage Revlons?
Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to check out Dana's Retro Sunday Squared post over at Polished Claws Up to see what vintage Revlons she has today!

Vintage Stash Spam Week - Revlon Streetwear and Revlon
Hi everyone!! Thanks for stopping in today.
I'm so excited about today's post because Revlon Streetwear and the regular Revlon line are some of my favorite vintage polishes ever! They were sold at drugstores during the late 90s and early 2000s and I remember having quite a few of them back in the day! Sadly, all the polish from my childhood has been tossed out and I had to rebuild my collection from scratch.
Vintage Streetwears and Revlons are pretty easy to find on eBay these days, but the more rare ones can be quite pricy. Take it from this vintage polish collector, patience and persistence is key to find what you are looking for at the right price. But there's definitely some fairly cheap Streetwears up on eBay right now and if you are eager to start collecting, that would be a great place to start!

Pink Wednesday: Revlon Victorian with jelly snowflakes!
Happy Pink Wednesday everyone! Today I have for you one of my favorite jelly polishes, Revlon Victorian from this summer's Just Tinted collection. For those who don't know, a jelly is a polish that is sheer yet pigmented and creates a wonderful, almost juicy effect on the nail. Jellys typically dry quite shiny on their own, but Victorian dries to a satin finish so I had to use a topcoat to really bring out the juicy jelly-ness in this polish.
So, I woke up today and it was SNOWING! I was so excited, as it is the very end of November and we still hadn't really had more than a dusting of snow. I wanted to incorporate the first real snow that I have seen this year into my manicure today, so I stamped a few snowflakes on my ring finger and thumb as accent nails!
A popular manicure technique making the rounds out there is called a "jelly sandwich." A jelly sandwich is when you layer glitter under a jelly polish, giving the glitter a subdued, milky look to it. So today, I decided to do a Konad jelly sandwich! When I stamped the snowflakes on with my white Konad polish, it almost seemed too stark against the delicate shine of the jelly. To cure the problem, I added two more coats of the hot pink Victorian on top of the stamping and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. Subtle, shiny, with a hint of winter goodness lurking underneath.
So here we have today's NOTD, 4 coats of Revlon Victorian with accent fingers stamped with Konad Special Polish in White. Enjoy!

These were taken indoors, with diffused flash to show the juicy, shiny jelly quality of Victorian. It appears a bit more red in the pics than it does in real life.
Here are a few outdoor shots to show the true hot pink color of Victorian =)
Thanks for stopping by! See you all tomorrow =)

Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings over Revlon Royal Cloak
Hi everyone! So sorry I've been delinquent on blog posting the last two days. I am back with two posts for you today! First up is Revlon Royal Cloak smothered in Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings.
I was stumped for a while on how I wanted to wear Lynderella's Cauldron Drippings. It is quite a unique glitter polish, with a base of orange hex, square and bar glitter with green, purple and gold glitters of different shapes. I tried it on its own, and it was pretty but I prefer layering the Lynnderella glitters so I am not using a ton of them at once. I kept seeing swatches of it over orange polishes, but since the majority of the glitter in it was orange it would get lost among the background. So when I tried it over Revlon Royal Cloak, I knew I had a winner! It stood out amongst the purple and the orange glitters were able to shine! Plus, it feels very Halloweenish to me.
Revlon Royal Cloak is from Revlon's limited edition Masquerade Collection fro Halloween. It is definitely my favorite polish in the collection. Royal Cloak is a dusty blue-leaning purple with flakies! I am a huge sucker for flakies, so I had to try Royal Cloak. The application was very good, and I just love how thin Revlon's brushes are because it allows me to do precise, thin coats of color. Two coats was good for complete coverage on this one!
Over Royal Cloak, I did one coat of Cauldron Drippings. Application was pretty standard for Lynnderella polishes - I had to be a little more careful than usual to get the glitter to disperse evenly, but other than that it was perfect.
So here she is! Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings over Revlon Royal Cloak:
Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for part two of today's post!!

These are all photos of my right hand, which is not my default swatching hand so please bear with me as my left hand photographing and polishing skills are not 100%. Plus, my right hand looks weirdly red and yellow today. Odd.
Anyways, here is two coats of Royal Cloak alone:
